CHERRY VALLEY: William S. Sawicki, 90, died on Wednesday, September 4th at his home surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife, Judith F. (Mycock) Sawicki, his 3 sons: Kevin W. Sawicki and his wife, Julie of Stockbridge, GA., Francis C. Sawicki of Cherry Valley, and Russell J. Sawicki and his wife, Sharon of West Cornwall, CT., his 2 daughters; Kathleen M. Raymond, of Putnam, CT and Darlene A. Cray and her husband, Marc of Sanbornton, NH., a step-daughter Gail F. Maggio and husband Philip of Sumpterville, FL and step-son Gary Heimerdinger and his wife Joanne of Spencer, MA; 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Ralph Remi of Worcester, MA. William was predeceased by 2 brothers; Stanley Sawicki of Neptune, NJ.,and Albert Remi of Leicester; his first wife Elizabeth M (Brown) Sawicki, 3 sons Michael P, Wayne S, and Stephen M Sawicki, and 3 daughters Cynthia L, Mary M, and Michelle J Sawicki.
He was born in Millbury, son of Stanley J and Hazel J. (Dwinell) Sawicki. While in high school, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He worked many years as a textile designer for Carleton Woolen Mill in Rochdale followed by several years as a Maintenance worker for local retirement communities. He volunteered and served on the board of directors for Pernet Family Health Service and was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a fan of watching sports, especially New England Sports teams. He enjoyed hand weaving and fishing. Mostly, Bill enjoyed the time that he spent visiting and telling stories with his family and friends as his door was always open.
A Graveside service will be held at a later date. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is assisting the family with arrangements.
