William G. Wastila 88 of 116 Manville St., died Sunday Oct. 26 at Sunbridge Sandalwood Nursing Home in Oxford. He was the husband of Marian A. (Ouimette) Wastila who died in 2000. He leaves a son William B. Wastila of Garner, N.Carolina, a daughter Marilyn D. Hyland of Leicester, 4 grand and 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wastila was a metallurgist at the former Worcester Pressed Steel Co., for 36 years, retiring in 1975. He graduated from Leicester High School, and was a Charter member of the United Fly Tyers Assoc., a founding member of the Leicester Rod & Gun Club, a 32nd. Degree Mason and member of the Spencer Lodge, AF & AM. He also was one of the first members of the Leicester Conservation Commission from 1962-76. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Victor J. Wastila and Mary (Rautio) Wastila-Pitkanen.

Private funeral service will be held at a later date with burial in Cherry Valley Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to Leicester Senior Center, 41 Winslow Ave., Leicester 01524. MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is directing arrangements.
