Nancy L. Dorr

CHARLTON/LEICESTER: Nancy L. (Luoma) Dorr, 89, formerly of Leicester, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Saturday, February 1st in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

She was the wife of Arthur J. Dorr, who died in 2005. She leaves three daughters; Sandra M. Wilson and her husband James of Leicester, Karen A. Car and her husband Richard of Weare, NH., Laurie E. Peltier and her husband Thomas of Leicester, a sister, Sylvia Forgit of Worcester, eight grandchildren; Elizabeth and Kathleen Wilson, Emily Car, Nicole, Abrielle, and Griffin Peltier, Kelci and Benjamin Dorr and a great-grandson Chase Besaw, many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons, Michael J. and Matthew J. Dorr, a granddaughter Lydia M. Peltier, six brothers; Toivo, Paavo, Paul, Henry, Arthur, Edwin, and four sisters; Martha, Helmi, Evelyn, and Ruth.

Born in Leicester, she was the daughter of Jacob & Lydia (Alho) Luoma. She was a graduate of Leicester High School and the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Nancy was a registered nurse and previously worked for local nursing homes before she became the nurse at the Leicester Primary School, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Pius X Church, Leicester and former member of the Red Hat Society, as well as a Girl Scout Leader.

She enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren as well as her neighbors at The Overlook. Nancy and Art loved entertaining friends and family. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage and had fond memories of her trip to Finland in 2005.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to the doctors and nurses in the PCU at St. Vincent Hospital.

Nancy's funeral will be held on Saturday, February 8th from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 11 A.M. in St. Pius X Church, 1161 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester. A calling period will be held from 9:30-10:45 A.M. in the funeral home prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Leicester Food Pantry, 759 Main St., Leicester, MA 01524 or to the Friends of the Leicester Public Library, 1136 Main St., Leicester, MA 01524.
