WEST BROOKFIELD: Robert J. Marsh, 78, passed away peacefully after an illness, on May 24th at his daughter's home in East Brookfield, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves the mother of his children and loving friend, Judith (Herring) Marsh of West Brookfield, a daughter, Pamela Ostrout and her husband Gary of East Brookfield, a son, Robert Marsh of East Brookfield, two sisters, Gail Marsh and Susan A. Marsh of Auburn, 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren all of whom brought him immense pride, joy and plenty of new material for his stories.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Roberts whose memory he held close to his heart every day.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph & Irene (Cotto) Marsh. He was a graduate of Leicester High School and then served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Bob (Pops) was a bus driver for many years starting his career at Trailways Bus co in 1970, then moving on to WRTA for several years before finally retiring from AA transportation in 2018, where he safely drove the students of the Spencer- East Brookfield School District and was fondly known as "Bus Driver Bob".
He loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox especially during "Sunday Funday" family get togethers at his daughter's house where on many occasions he could be heard belting out the lyrics to his favorite song "My Way" sung by his favorite artist Jerry Vale. Coincidentally, this was also the motto Bob lived by throughout his entire life.
Bob was the kind of man who could light up a room without trying. He lived simply, laughed often, always had a smile on his face and loved deeply.
In keeping with Bob's spirit, no formal services will be held.
The family encourages friends and loved ones to honor him the way he would have wanted… with a good story, a warm memory and a cold one raised in his name.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Brookhaven Hospice in West Brookfield, and especially to our two "Angels" Holly and Ashley. We are deeply grateful for the loving care and compassion they provided. Their support during Bob's final days was immeasurable, and we are forever thankful for the comfort and support they gave us all.
